A WORLD IN NEED
This year we do our Lenten prayer, fasting and alms giving against a background of mounting political and social tension, uncollected refuse piling high and polluting our streets, the horrors of war in Ukraine, and the devastating earthquakes in Turkey. How is this affecting you? What resources does our Christian faith give us to cope?
We can bring the world to God every day in our prayer, asking for a fresh outpouring of the Holy spirit of wisdom, healing and peace. We can fast and abstain from all words and actions that inflame division, hatred and violence. We call look around our neighbourhood to see those most affected – the elderly, the lonely and the frightened – and reach out with a helping hand.
We are citizens of the Kingdom of God with a mission to transform the world. Where there is injustice, we pray and work for justice; where there is violence, we pray and work for peace; where there is sadness, we are a light radiating joy.
Lord help us and bless our world in these difficult times!
