Fr Pat took his leave of St Joseph’s on Thursday to take up parish ministry in Mount Argus, Dublin. His going leaves a gap among us and he will be missed. His “send- off” last Sunday began with his celebrating 12.30 p.m. Mass. This was followed by a joyful and fun-filled time in the garden. There was food, dancing, singing and expressions of appreciation and good wishes.

Fr Ben, returned on Thurs to Minsteracres, England. Thanks to him for being with us.

There is a feeling of ‘déjà vu’ as you are left again with just me. We can hope and work to have a community of three Passionists restored, if at all possible. In the meantime, there is again an opportunity for us to read ‘the signs of the time’. Our situation is one that is replicated in other churches and parishes. As Pope Francis calls on us to enter into a period of listening – Synodality – laity are asked to be the main voices in the Body of Christ now. Every “crisis” has “opportunities”, and the call of God seems to me that we discern once again, ‘where is the Sprit leading St Joseph’s in this decade?’

COP26 U.N. Climate Summit 31 Oct to 12 Nov. in Glasgow. Cardinal Parolin will represent Pope Francis. St Joseph’s ‘Laudato Si’ group will help us engage with these urgent challenges.

RCIA 2021 – 2022 began on Thursday evening in the Hall. In challenging times, it is a joy that five Candidates – under mid-30’s in age - have set their hearts on receiving Sacraments of Initiation. This is the work of the Spirit leading them into the Body of Christ via St Joseph’s. Please keep them in your prayers and also Joan, Colette and Joe who walk with them.
