Bulletin Notices 17 March 2019

Parish Pastoral Council Meeting, on Monday 11 March: 17 of us sat down to see in what ways we could serve St Joseph’s better in order that the glory of God shine forth even brighter. From Parish Meeting of 17th Feb, we had a lot of very valuable material that arose from the discussion groups on that day. Date of the Third Laity/Passionist Conversation will be on Sunday, 12th May at 1.30 p.m. in the Hall. Please put that date in your diary. There is still no news of another Passionist coming to St Joseph’s. While we have wonderful priests who come to offer Mass, I believe that a Passionist community with and for our parish is a blessing.

Lenten Project launched last weekend was discussed and ways of creating more and better awareness. Ministries, celebrations of Sacraments got some attention and more will be given at the next Pastoral Council meeting.  Mardi Gras raised a magnificent €2,015 for St Joseph’s. Thanks to Josefina and all who did so much for a great evening. An estimate is awaited for restoration of the pyramid in the garden. As we celebrate our 150th Anniversary, we await answers to major questions, not all in our hands. Prayer that we take the right road was never more needed.

Reading of Bible for Children during 9.30 a.m. Mass: 2019: today, Mar 17 & 31 Apr: 7 & 14; May 12 & 26; Jun 16 & 30. A blessing.

Parish Pastoral Council Meeting, on Monday 11 Mar at 7.30 p.m.:

Many reflections from Parish Meeting on 17 Feb will be on our agenda. Date of the Third Laity/Passionist Conversation will be settled, and the agenda outlined. Future Passionist community from Saint Patrick’s Province assigned here will also be reviewed. Lenten Project launched this weekend will be discussed and ways of creating more and better awareness. Ministries, celebrations of Sacraments will get our attention. For a one-hour meeting, we will not be short of material. Each Ministry is asked to have at least a member present so that the Pastoral Council can address what needs attention and rejoice at the blessings of these ministries. As we celebrate our 150th Anniversary here, we are at a crossroads with major decisions, not all in our hands, awaited. Prayer to take the right road was never more needed.

Parish Meeting last Sunday:

The official Minutes were taken by Curcino. Many thanks to all who participated and to those who would like to have been present but were unable. The financial presentation was delivered in a clear and concise fashion. Thanks to Heather and Michael. Tom Heneghan presented a fascinating quick tour through the history of St Joseph’s since 1869. We wish him well with writing the book. Gretchen, Fabrice and Akuorkor had worked on the future of St Joseph’s, especially the commitment by the Passionists of St Patrick’s Province. Fr James Sweeney, Provincial, gave an update on personnel and some future projections. The small group discussions yielded a wealth of ideas and suggestions for the way forward. These will be processed and the next meeting of the Pastoral Council on 11th March at 7.30 p.m. will have this material on the agenda. Thanks to Josefina for organising some food and to all who helped serve and tidy up afterwards. The date of the next Parish Meeting will be fixed soon and published.
