Provincial Chapter deferred to 2021

This four-yearly meeting, originally due in June 2020 and postponed to Oct. 2020, is now scheduled to take place in June of next year. Besides making Passionist policy, all local community appointments follow a Chapter. It is not yet clear whether these will be made soon, or after June 2021. With 12 years served at St Joseph’s, I will seek God’s guidance about my future. I will consult with the Provincial Superior in Dublin and share the outcome with you. Any views that you wish to share with me will be welcomed. Your prayers during this discernment will be appreciated. Future planning for St Joseph’s to June 2021 and beyond continues. Development of any pastoral plans for St Joseph’s will be in the COVID-19 new context. These can be times of grace, filled with opportunities. {Aidan}

Anyone with concerns about coming to a weekend Mass should, with a good conscience, join in Mass online or at a less-crowded weekday Mass. Please do not put yourself at risk or those at home or who work with you.

I am a football supporter. Victory or defeat is part of sport. But the damage to property after the Champions’ League semi-final on Sunday night, is not what residents deserve. St Joseph’s escaped lightly with a broken flowerpot and damage to a notice board. But as I walked through our area on Monday morning, it saddened me to see the extent of serious damage to small and large businesses. Residents’ property surely deserves better protection.

Thanks to Scouts and their parents who installed a wonderful ‘insect hotel’ in St Joseph’s garden last Saturday.
