Thanks for great support during lockdown.

ADP cheques from Feb-June were not lodged by the Diocese. New bookkeeping by ADP and lockdown were reasons offered. St Joseph’s office sends cheques when received. I regret this delay beyond our control; all cheques were to be lodged by the Diocese on Friday. Online donations were not affected, and all is now fixed. Sincere apologies, {Aidan}

Full Reopening of Saint Joseph’s: not yet under present regulations.

St Joseph’s Church is now open daily on upper level, from 9 – 5. People are again coming to pray and to light a candle. This area is sanitised at the end of each day.
Entry for all Masses remains by the door at Reception, at the end of the parvis steps.

Confessions Sat. 11.30 am - 12.30 pm.

Baptisms resuming this month.

 “God’s Hidden Graces of Covid19

On Sunday 8th March 2020, Mass from St Joseph’s was viewed 129 times. Lockdown was 1 week later; Sun 15 Mar, there were 538 views of only Mass from St Joseph’s. Easter Vigil and one Easter Sunday Mass increased to 1,317 views online. Good Friday at St Joseph’s had 902 views. Online transmission of Mass from St Joseph’s began in May 2016 and graphs supplied by ‘YouTube’ reveal an amazing growth since mid-March 2020. Emails received from people joining in Mass from St Joseph’s come from near and far. Requests for prayers at Sunday Mass is beyond anything I have ever known before.

Why tell you all this? Not to boast, but to wonder if some new possibilities are being revealed to us by God? Mass together was and is the ideal; we pray that we will soon be back together again. In the meantime, is the reopening of all churches, while this pandemic is still active, the only or the best response? If this was the only option, so be it. Due to health regulations, St Joseph’s can welcome no more than 45 worshippers to Mass. Careful work done to preregister is appreciated. Should the Hierarchies have analysed evidence for Mass online as a temporary alternative to protect people until all who wish can be together at Mass? Sunday Mass online and receiving Holy Communion at another time or a weekday Mass would it be a possible alternative? Our church doors will open one day to all God’s People. As Temples of the Holy Spirit, Jesus lives in us as well as in the church building. We are the church; the building is where we assemble. Arrangements in place at present, will be carefully observed.
