Bulletin Notices 27 January 2019

Parish Meeting on 17th Feb. 1.30 pm.

This meeting in the Hall will be attended by Fr James Sweeney, Provincial of the Passionists. We can have a conversation with him, at this second parish meeting in a series of three that he asked to be held in Communities in Ireland, Scotland and Paris. An opinion expressed by some is that three Passionists be the number assigned to St Joseph’s, as required by the Passionist Rule of LIfe. Since August 2018, there has not been a Passionist Community at St Joseph’s, for the first time since 1869. This isn’t about me or my needs; it’s about you as parishioners. My opinion is that you deserve better than having just one Passionist at St Joseph’s. The very generous and joyful service of visiting priests needed for weekend Masses at St Joseph’s, has become a feature here since August 2018. Is it your wish that this continue for weekend Mass or should there be a Community of three Passionists at St Joseph’s as in the past? Visiting Priests would still be welcome and enrich our liturgies by their preaching. Celebrating 150th Anniversary of St Joseph’s (1869); St Joseph’s Church works, and finances will be on our agenda. ‘Mardi Gras’, 2nd March, will be presented. The Lenten Project will be explained and plans for Lent and Easter. CCD and other topics may arise. Pastoral Council will meet on 11 Feb to prepare for this meeting.
