CCD FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Without the celebration of the Mass the Church on earth would cease to exist. This is so because in the words of the Second Vatican Council:

“The Liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; it is also the font from which all her power flows. For the goal of apostolic endeavour is that all who are made sons and daughters of God by faith and baptism should come together to praise God in the midst of his Church, to take part in the Sacrifice and to eat the Lord’s Supper.” (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy of Vatican Council II Paragraph 10)

St Joseph’s Mission Anglophone has been served by the Passionists since 1869.

“The Eucharist is central to the life of each community. Our common sharing in the same Body and Blood of Christ nourishes the life of our community, constitutes its norm and fosters union among ourselves.” (Passionist Congregation Constitutions Number 43)

Pope Francis during the celebration of Mass and at General Audiences frequently speaks of the Eucharist:

“At the Last Supper, with his friends, Jesus breaks bread and passes the cup round “for us.” The Son of God offers himself to us; his puts his Body and his Blood into our hands, so as to be with us always, to dwell among us. And in the Garden of Olives, and likewise in the trial before Pilate, he puts up no resistance, he gives himself; he is the suffering Servant, foretold by Isaiah, who empties himself, even unto death (Isaiah 53:12)” (Pope Francis during a General Audience, March 27, 2013)
